چکیده
• To get a global understanding of the pathophysiology of irritable bowel syndrome, idiopathic chronic constipation, and diverticular disease for a more rational use of dietary tools in these conditions; • To learn about the true impact of “food intolerance” on symptoms of irritable bowel, thereby gaining insight into the role of excluding selected food from the diet of these patients; • To know the indications and limits for the use of high-fibre diets and fibre supplements in irritable bowel syndrome, chronic constipation, and diverticular disease; • To summarise the current evidences for the use of probiotics and prebiotics in these conditions.
